A personalized & spectacular transformation!

Interior designer Mélyssa Robert was able to reflect the essence of its owner, a soul in search of freedom and coherence, in the transformation of this home. The rearrangement of the partitions allowed the enlargement of a bedroom and storage areas and the creation of unexpected spaces. The bench in the center, the hidden storage doors and the net in front of the window are examples that bring a touch of magic to the Unexpected House.

The clean, white framework that envelops the premises is enhanced by warm wood accents. We find walnut in particular in the battens of the entrance, the bedroom and the master bathroom, in the cabinets and the furniture. The original oak floors and stairs have been preserved and restored. The chosen shade is an orange shade reflecting the appearance of the wood cladding on the exterior of the house.

The entrance is marked by an arch made of wooden battens which cleverly conceal the wardrobe door while accommodating two LED strips for lighting. We removed a staircase to install a net in front of the window and thus relax in complete peace in front of the breathtaking view of the lake. In the kitchen, the walnut table juxtaposed with the island has also been oriented to take advantage of the natural light and the beauty of the place. The clean-lined kitchen cabinets hide built-in storage and the door to the walk-in pantry. At the heart, we find the bench and modular armchairs practical for gatherings or for relaxing with a book. The furniture was carefully chosen for its curves and for its multiple configuration possibilities. It was made in Quebec and the fabrics are removable and washable. In the bathroom, the tiles installed in a herringbone pattern in the shower are green like the original front doors. The shape of the mirror takes up the curved lines of the windows of the house.

In the master suite, a dazzling blue highlights the original work of a local artist, evoking the passion and gentleness that animate this intimate space. The layout of the master bathroom has been revised to conceal the toilet, shower and walk-in linen closet. The matte white finished sinks and bath and textured tiles were selected for their organic look. The vanity, faucets and two mirrors hanging from the ceiling give the impression of floating in space. The backlit canvas image can be changed according to the desired ambiance. In the guest suite, we find textured panels and a concrete faux finish with gold touches that match the brass pendant light and the yellow armchair. In the basement, a relaxation area invites you to relax, with its fireplace, dry sauna and salt bricks. The attention to detail can be seen in the pattern of cedar slats created on the ceiling. Finally, the house is also equipped with a geothermal system, home automation and motorized blinds.

More than a simple renovation, this residence echoes the values and aspirations of its owner. Its lucky numbers were integrated into the decor, particularly in the number of wooden battens, and the proportions of the Fibonacci sequence were followed in the design of the wall coverings for the sake of harmony. The Unexpected House is a true place of renewal that vibrates to the rhythm of modernity and authenticity.
